In 2023, a people flow analysis was installed in the city center of Kaiserslautern with the help of the EdgeCOM from SCF. The EdgeCOMs are used to count people via Bluetooth and provide the city with a precise analysis of the people counted.

A smart lighting installation is being built in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station. On a way of 300 meter, 10 street lights were converted – to the formerlongest intelligent and connected way of luminaires in Rheinland-Pfalz.

Smart City Factory developed the innovative smart city solution and built the secure IoT network based on programmable edge computers (iceMEC). In addition to intelligent luminaire control, this solution enables detection of environmental influences, black ice signalling and traffic measurement. In addition, passing citizens can adjust the illuminance to their needs and increase the brightness. In addition, the local authorities have the possibility, for example in the event of an accident, to increase the lighting to 100% at the push of a button and thus significantly increase the sense of safety.
