Frankfurt am Main/City West
Project description
In two further steps, the existing infrastructure was supplemented by several edge computers on the light poles and equipped with sensors. The existing infrastructure was also used for further sensors in order to use the real laboratory sustainably and efficiently.
SMART.sensor collects data from a wide range of sensors installed in the neighbourhood. These include air quality sensors, temperature sensors, CO2 sensors, weather and noise sensors.
With SMART.sensor, further sensors for detecting the road surface (black ice, wetness, heat) were added. They make it possible, for example, to inform the winter road clearance service at short notice.
In order to "facilitate" the way from the train station to the company premises for the employees, several SMART.hotspot were installed for WLAN coverage. Another one was retrofitted at short notice and without complications in order to be able to implement the coverage even better. After the trial phase, the company, together with SCF, implemented an on-premise solution and laid the foundation for further scaling beyond the real lab.
Project description
The Frankfurt-based energy supplier started the Smart City theme with an invisible installation for recording traffic volumes.
In Q2 2019, several Edge Computer Cabinets were installed in the control cabinets in order to record the traffic volume at various positions and between precisely these defined points with SMART.crowd and SMART.flow via Bluetooth.
